My favorite book of the year so far is City of Islands, by Kali Wallace. The story follows twelve-year-old Mara, a diver who discovers strange bones on the floor of the sea and accepts a mission to infiltrate a dark and dangerous island fortress. In a city where magic is sung and mages compete for status, Mara uncovers secrets that shake the society she lives in and change the course of her life forever. If you love well-developed characters, fascinating worlds, and edge-of-your-seat suspense, give this book a read!
