Peace by Piece--Edith Cavell

Edith Cavell was a British nurse during World War I, executed for helping hundreds of Allied soldiers escape occupied Belgium. Her heroic deeds also included treating the wounded on both sides of the war without discrimination. "I can't stop while there are lives to be saved," she is quoted as saying. What a powerful example of humanity--one I hope to learn from now, over a century later.
